First Class Sweatshop
Quality fabrics, quality clothing
We love helping others reach larger audiences conveniently, and thats precisely what the owner of First Class Sweatshop was looking for
Whenever she went to crafts fairs, she would always have to bring everything she wanted to sell. This was clumsy at best.
The solution to the problem would be to create an e-commerce site that she could place her products on.
She could now bring a smaller selection of her goods when she traveled, and if people were interested in other items she could direct them to her site where they can make purchases. Not only that, but she would be reaching larger audiences too! All around, a great idea if we do say so ourselves.
BibleOnly.Org
Revelations and community
The owner of BibleOnly.Org came to us looking to modernize his site. Lucky for him, this was right up our alley
He wanted the ability to easily publish new articles without having to deal with the messy business of editing HTML. He also wanted to allow his readers the ability to publish their own articles and have others comment on them.
We threw some ideas around and realized a Content Management System fit his needs perfectly. After a few back and forths with the owner, we got to work. The Jooomla! CMS provided a simple and easy to use publishing system so new pages could be dynamically generated on the fly by the owner and users.
We then slapped a gorgeous new design together to place over the gears running the CMS. He was thrilled with the end result, and so were we.
Big O's Grill
Hot dogs, hamburgers, and bobs.
There is something seriously tasty about Big O's Grill. Not only do they serve all our favorite on-the-grill foods, but they do it damn well with a little Latin flavor.
So when they came around looking for help, we were more than happy to assist.
After a quick chat, we realized what Big O's Grill needed was a logo that carried with it some attitude, some swagger. They needed something to grab the attention of their costumers, something that could make them more recognizable to the public. The logo needed to be representative of what Big O's is all about.
So off we went to the drawing board. We knew that they wanted the "O's" in "Big O's Grill" to be at the center and everything else to revolve around it. No problem. Following a few scribbles on paper, we settled on an in-your-face design that incorporated the menu into the logo. What's so bad about getting straight to the point?

UF Ad Society
The University of Florida's Ad Society came to us one day with a design in-hand, designed by one of their own, but no one to code the site for them. Being generous lads, and seeing as they presented us with a wonderful design, we did this work pro-bono since we also had ties to the organization.
We coded their site to include not only the initial design, but also an integrated Blogspot blog and Google calendar. Beyond that, we provided them with a template so they could manage and update the site on their own. With the template came training in Dreamweaver for their technical director at the time.
The UF Ad Society was very pleased with the finished product, and from time to time would ask for small updates or changes which we were more than happy to help them with.Sleeping Penguin Productions
There's really nothing like doing work pro bono. The sense of pride one feels for doing some thing he or she loves and helping another in need at the same time is high like no other.
Well this wasn't really one of those cases. A friend of ours desperately needed a logo to help brand himself as a freelance videographer for his production company Sleeping Penguin Productions and I needed to not pay the power bill for last month.
Like two mature adults (notice how I use the word "like" and not "as"), we sat down and negotiated for an hour (shouldn't have taken longer than 10 minutes, but we ended up fighting over a frozen pizza of his that I "borrowed" a year ago) before finally meeting in the middle, more or less.
In the end, we designed for him a logo/mascot and I didn't have to pay for the ridiculously large Florida power bill.
Shrimp School
The University of Florida's annual Shrimp School (presented by the Aquatic Food Products Program) is "dedicated to advancing shrimp product quality and safety, and has become the leading academically-based domestic and international training program for shrimp processors and regulators worldwide."
For a program this large, an efficient, professional website is a must. They already had a website, but they needed it remodeled to be more in sync with the standard university template and they needed it within two weeks. The previous design was heavily outdated, so a complete site overhaul was necessary.
Working with the Aquatic Food Products Department, we tailored Shrimp School's new site to be more visually appealing with a new set of headers (using real in-class photos) while staying within the guidelines of the university template. We're very proud of the work we did for UF's Shrimp School in the short amount of time we had available and the university's Aquatic Food Products Department felt the same.

Visions In Stained Glass, Inc.
Visions In Stained Glass, Inc. had an old outdated website, probably something that was created in the early 90s. So, to keep up with the times, they wanted to upgrade their site.
After meeting with the business owners we had put together a basic proposal and mock sketch-up of what we invisioned the site to look like. They had expressed deep concerns for keeping costs low and keeping the same basic layout as they had originally. This was quite a challege. The design we came up with was something a bit more modern than they originally had, but not too drastically different. The key was to keep it simple, without too much flare.
Unfortunately, things fell apart when we couldn't agree on a reasonable deadline for the project. They ultimately decided to go in a different direction.
UF Event Poster: Lupe Fiasco
Going to school at the University of Florida has its benefits, one of them being an enthusiastic Student Government that brings in great, popular music month after month. We have had the likes of Ne-Yo, Carrie Underwood and now Lupe Fiasco in concert in just the last few months.
Typically, a member of their staff design posters, flyers, and online advertisements to promote such events to the student body. Unfortunately, their usual designer was busy during the promotional development phase for the Lupe Fiasco event and gave them a rushed product.
On the eve of their deadline, a friend of ours on their staff reached out to IKV in desperate need to create a poster that could excite the student body. After agreeing to take the last minute job, they quickly sent us what we needed to get the project done. After a few hours, we were able to put together what they needed for a great poster, flyer and online advertisement. It was probably the fastest we've ever worked, but it was definitely worth it. There is just added motivation when you know Lupe and the whole student body will see your work.
